Furnace, Water Tank And Wet Basement BallPark
I live in pittsburgh and I assume i will have contractor to do the job.
Could some one tell me how much it cost to replace a furnace, water tank?
and how much does it cost to fix the pipes, i think the house had the pipes burst down the basement!! i saw the water stain by the wall is like 2 feet high
I know it is hard to estimate without looking at it, but a ballpark number(max number is very appreciated)

Are these heating pipes or plumbing pipes?
A furnace is about $2-3,000
A water tank is about $300-$1,000
the plumbing is impossible to estimate without more info. measure diameter and length go to Means repair and Remodelling info and there will be tables to estimate such things.
thank you for your reply. Water problem down the basement is what i am worrying the most right now. I don't know how serious the water problem is but by looking at the water stain on the wall, i know there was a problem!!!, it is a winterized house. It had heat water turned off.
Need more info!!!! Damp or wet basements are quite common. There are several ways to deal with the problem. But it really depends on the circumstances of the structure as well as the source(s) of the moisture. It could be a simple as a failing gutter or as involved as an underground stream. It might even be evidence of a past problem.
I doubt you have this sort of circumstance on your hands, but to answer you "max number" question;
The most expensive example of a moisture problem I have ever seen was a bit over 200K. It is important to note that much of the expense was due to the fact that the house was land locked.
get at least 3 contractors to give you a bid. better yet get them all at the house at the same time. if all 3 bids very a lot (like 40%) get several more bids. A bid is free and very informative.

If you want it broken down Supply me with the functions of all appliances and the dimension and length and material of all pipe and oh yes, their purpose. The furnace I am a little puzzled so I used a natural gas furnace with a blower and tying into the existing ducts. All water supply lines should be copper and silver soldered thats so no lead is used and your children turn out funny. Did you not have an inspection prior to purchase?

I have a question on this too. Once you deal with the source of the wet basement (gutters...) How do get more ventilation into the basement if it is poorly ventilated?
