Funding For Non-Profit Startup

Does anyone know of a good resource for angel invetors? I am trying to raise $10,000 to lease and equip a facility to provide training for disabled people. They will learn how to write a resume, business plans, use the internet and other computer training. This will enable them to seek an income and not have to rely on federal assistance. :-?

There is a difference between setting up a corporation to operate as a non profit, and a corporation that has been designated as a tax exempt corporation... such as a 501(c)(3), or (c)(6)

If you are seeking tax deductible contributions, gifts, donations, etc. you must have an IRS ruling, and many states require that your organization have a charitable registration number in addition to the IRS designation.

If you do some research, you might find other, similar but existing non profits that already fill the need that you are seeking to fill.... perhaps a collaboration is in order...

There are many sites on line, and most public libraries have such information.

    Good Luck.

Basically to get your funding you would be selling memberships. Check your local securities laws as it falls under the definition of a security.
