Still Looking For "What's Owed"

I am gathering information for investors on properties through initial filings of default and the such. However, among the information I am able to locate, I am still having a problem locating what's still owed on the property. How can I obtain this information? Should I be contacting these homeowners directly as well for more info or let the investors do that themselves?

That should be available through the court house by doing title search. If there are any debts owed where the property is collateral, they will have to list it with the government.

Yoyu can get the info at the courthouse
(usually recorder or deeds office) or better yet...
call the foreclosing attorney and ask what is
    owed/their 'upset price'.
