Home Owner Locked Out??
In Washington State...Is it legal for lender(s) to change the locks and remove belongings before the final sale is complete? Couple is going through divorce and neither party is currently living in home. They both just want to sell it and be done with it.
I'm not sure about Washington State, but in Ohio, if the property is in arrears and abandoned, the bank is allowed to 'secure the property' against theft, vandalism, etc. The family should be allowed to go in to get their stuff, but they'll probably have to go through the lender's real estate agent and be supervised.
