Yes I have bought city owned houses, but you need to be an experienced investor/rehabber. When dealing with most of these houses you are dealing with major code and habitability issues. But many cities will loan the rehab money at 0%-3% until the house is sold. They also offer excellent terms to the buyer. Most of these homes are in undesireable areas.

What qualifies you as an experienced rehabber in the eyes of city gov't? What kinds of documentation are they looking for?

    Thanks for the reply

In Pgh we have a TV Channel which shows houses the city owns. I bought one in the 90's. Now they are so HOT!!!!!!!! you have to wait forever to be able to bid. We have a list of qualificationsn that yiu must meet in order to purchase a property.
