In NC, you don't need a Real Estate Agent in order to purchase or sell real estate. I don't think CA would have a law that forces you to conduct a transaction through a real estate agent.

    lweinlan,

    None.

You don't need a real estate agent to do anything for you when you are dealing with transactions between yourself and a potential seller. The only time you need to be an agent, is that if you are representing a SELLER/BUYER in which you have no interest in as a principal buyer/seller.

You can check with an attorney in your state, but there is no law saying that you need to have an agent or attorney write a purchase agreement for you. It is an option, but it's not necessary.

    good luck,
