A Coincidence...

If you aren't into stories than don't bother reading this. It really has nothing to do with real estate, but more an example of how small our world really is.

About 10 years ago I was reading the Sunday New York Times Real Estate section whose cover story was about residental mortgage foreclosures. The article was terrific and told about a brand new foreclosure data service, and it's owner, a former FDCI liquidator, and general r/e investor. He and his wife had devised yet another mini profit center, a monthly magazine geared for investors.
The article said that the publisher lived in Monmouth County, NJ. So do I.
Long story short I placed a call to an unfamilar telephone exchange and 'Sidney' answered the phone. We talked awhile about the business, and I asked where he was located.

He said the name of MY town.
I asked him on what street.
He said the name of MY street.
I asked him what number... but since the numbers are all out of whack on our street, so I asked him if he was on a cordless phone. He was. So was I.

Two minutes later, there were two guys holding cups of coffee and cordless phones talking to each other... as neighbors, separated by one house.

I think that coincidental.

Flash forward 10 years. The NYTimes Sunday R/E Section did a piece on me.
Actually, a cover story with a photograph.
But I got this eeery phone call. And the guy asks, "Where in Monmouth County do you live?" Deja Vu?

It turns out that the call came from another neighbor....
