Foreclosure listed in paper - but owner not there - How do I find owner?

  Absent mortgagor's express permission, the only way you would be able to interface with the lender is if you were seeking to purchase the mortgage.
  
  To learn the current whereabouts of a MIA homeowner, check with the tax collector. Also, if the homeowner has leased the property to a tentant, check for Landlord Registration in the code enforcement office.
  
  Or, you could send the homeowner a letter and ask that the letter be forwarded and get an address correction from the post office.

  I'm preety sure the lender has no idea where the owner is...probably why the house is in foreclosure. check the tax assesors off. to see where the tax bill is being sent.
  
  Just because someone owned the house doesn't mean they actually lived there. Ask the neighbors if they know where the owner moved to.
  
  Call the Post Off. and ask for the route of that address then ask to speak with the letter carrier of that route. You might get some uninformed clerk that may just give you their forwarding address.
  
  I worked for the PO for 15 years and they don't just give out addresses...the address correction is automatic. Millions of people and Companies send people mail and have no idea that a person has moved but the people will get the mail for up to 1 year if it's 1st class.

  How would I find out who the mortgage is with - the county clerk? The postings on the houses don't specify who the lender was? Thanks for the quick response

  Check the Lis Pendens at the Court House. Ask for help if you don't know your way around.

  Go to a professional. Hire a skip tracer (might be under private detectives in the yellow pages) to find your MIA owner. If the owner is just going to bail, maybe you can persuade him that you can prevent the foreclosure. Good luck. A good skip tracer can find anyone.

  I just had 5 of 20 postcards I sent out come back with "Vacant House" tagged on them. So I guess in some cases they don't even do a forwarding. These were just recently listed as Lis Pendens.
