For Sale Sign

Does anyone have an idea what I can use to make a for sale sign. I want one bigger than the kind you can get at home depot or lowes. I want to be able to write down some property and financial info on it and those wont be big enough.

The evolution of a sign maker

I use to make my own signs. Went to HD and got tile board which is like peg board but shiny white on one side. It comes like sheets of plywood. Then get it cut to size. Buy some wood screws, stakes, permanent market and install with drill and hammer. I have terrible handwriting so I also put together a template with the cutout letters so I could pull the template out of my trunk, put it on a cut peice of tile board, use my red can of spray pain to say FOR SALE (or FOR RENT) with my phone number. Then I would use a permanent marker to draw the arrow, put 3/2, $800, street address or whatever. My template left me room in the two corners for the 3/2 and $800 and at the bottom for an arrow and property address. Get the drill and hammer out and you are in business.

This worked well except the boards were a bit heavy, I had to go to HD and get the boards cut (nothing in HD takes less than an hour), i needed to carry a drill, and sometimes the hammering into tough ground would crack the wood stakes or the board would loosen from the wood screws. So I moved on to blank, yellow, corregated plastic. Found a sign show in town that would sell me blank corregated plastic and sign stakes. I still used my template, spray painted, and then used permanent marker to customize.

Well, then the spray painting got to be a hassle and they always looked homemade - not that there is anything wrong with that, but I did start wondering if dead beat tenants intentionally look for mom and pop type landlords. So now I have FOR SALE and FOR RENT signs made at supercheapsigns. They are double sided, and have my phone number. There is still room in both corners for my 3/2, $800 and room at the bottom for my arrow and address.

    Hi,

I do this for my rentals, but you could use the same idea for For Sale houses.

I have all my signs printed at a local sign printer.

They have For Rent, my phone number and

    "______ Beds/______ Baths"
    "______per month"

In the spaces I use the stick on numbers you use for mailboxes. You can peel them off and reuse the signs.

Bruce, are the signs the corregated plastic?

    Hi,

    Yes, they are corrugated plastic.

I use yellow with black lettering.

The numbers I stick on are also black and match up fairly well...so from a distance it all looks pre-printed.

    Bruce.
