First Attempt A Bust!
Wow, I just got the brush off from a real estate agent that I tried to get to assist me on finding Very Motivated sellers of FSBO, I explained to him what exactly I wanted to do and even went so far as to let him know that I would only need him to assist me in submitting my bids and maybe assisting me with comps searches-I even told him he would not have to drive me around to look at property . His reply was ---"sorry , in a hot market like port saint lucie you are wasting your time "
Correct me if I'm wrong but right now it seems everywhere is a hot market in real estate. I mean really how hard was it for him to just say- "ok if anything comes up that meets your criteria I will let you know." And I thought it was his job to submit my offers however ridiculous they might be. Well I was really P.O.'ed to say the least and now I don't even want to ask him for the expired MLS, I guess I will shake it off and try someone else.
How have you guys gotten realtors to assist you?[ Edited by wmwealth on Date 04/03/2004 ]
Realtors are interested in two things: Commissions and referrals. Referrals ultimately lead to commissions. So really all they are interested in is commissions.
First, I would drop the offending realtor in question and never use his/her name in a polite sentence again. That maybe a little harsh, but I would certainly not refer them to any of my friends.
Second, you may have better luck working with a buyer’s agent. However, you will have fees to incur. Or you may build a relationship, based on referrals, with an agent and thus sugarcoat the effectiveness of the information that you may need.
In real estate there is nothing more powerful than a referral! And of course, it’s free.
Good Luck!
Thanks I actually work with an agent at the fire dept., It's funny how we miss the people that are right in front of our faces. I will try to talk to him about how we could work together. Great advice!
I will definently try a buyers agent in future dealings.
Talk with your associate first. He may do it for free.
Good Luck!
