Finding Absentee Owners
Hi ALL.......I have found a house in a very high end area in Atlanta. Pulled the tax records....he bought house in 1978 for $125K, houses on the same street have sold from low $750K-7.8M. This is the kicker, house is going to steps March 2. I sent a letter last week and requested forwarding address. I just got it back to me with "unknown". Help........
I always look for people on the internet. I don't know if it will work for you but I have found 4 out of 17 people that way.

Above is another quick post by Lori the tinman1755, which helps no one.
hlprops is interested in practical advise that will help him/her(?) find the owner of the above described house...
hlprops,
You can search Yahoo people, US Search or you can type in the www.google.com search field "Finding people" then explore the listed sites. For more info please ask tinman1755 since it looks that she obviously know how to find people on the internet but did not care to share just to get on the top of this month list of the members with the most posts.
Ah, "where the one's ego is in the way, not much one can do".
Keep searching for that owner and never let other members get away with "half ass" responses, which by the way degrades the quality of this site, and we all do not want to see that. Do we?
what area of atlanta is the property in? Also, you may try going to the neighbors house to find info.
So.....Lori, Tell me how did you go about finding these people.

The house is near buckhead.
If you really want a shot at the house then your next solution should be to hire a skip tracer to track down the information you are looking for. Prices range from $24.95 and up.
The skip tracer will locate where exactky the people have moved to and find additional information for you that can be benificial to you in negotiating.
We provide such a service or you can search around on the internet and use someone else.

I believe a useful website might be http://www.whitepages.com. The other idea presented was skip tracing. This is gonna cost you at least $20. Now you've got to ask yourself is it going to be worth it? Maybe or maybe not. In my case there are so many foreclosure leads that if I can't find one person I just move on to the next. A good handful of the letters I send out come back. I think you've got to be careful of how much time/money you spend chasing a potential deal. Hope that helps.

Is a good skip tracing company for investors.
Good Luck
Have you checked who is paying taxes on the property? The tax assessment office may have an address you can use..
Also if you run out of options and have to pay for a service I recommend www.deadleads.com one of tci's affliates is an excellent site as well. It is a really complete report. Found family member that was 3 times removed from the seller. Never heard of that much info in other reports that are sold online.

the absolute BEST way I have found to find anything about any property and any owner is ****Must Reach Freshman Investor status before posting URL's*** It is the world's largest source of public records and 90% of the info is FREE! you can find assessed tax values, leins, owner names and addresses...just about anything you need to know. I am a newbie to the real estate game, and considered keeping that "secret" to myself, but everyone I have talked to has been SO helpful and forthcoming with advice and knowledge that I feel it's my responsibility to share what I know, even if it's not much.
try the tax assessors office - mostly online i'd think. there at least an address in most cases of who the taxes go to and start your search there.
i even use pacer's bankruptcy system sometimes to locate folks of abandoned places - maybe they've filed. worth a shot.
yes, google is cool too.
due to my "newbie" status, i cannot post url's. in the site i mentioned earlier, you are able to search for any property records by address, owner name, and parcel id#. really useful when you spot that vacant run-down house that no ones know anything about. the address is searchsystems. just put 3 w's in front and****Must Reach Freshman Investor status before posting URL's*** at the end...get it?
