When registering with D&B to build creti for a buisness, should one get a D-U-N-S number only, or fork out the $400 for the Credit Builder package, or something else?
Start with the number first. In order to use the creit builder you must have information for them to verify. If you are a new company, it would be wise to get your references before you pay the $400.00. But registering is a start, this will show you are up and running
Yes, that is an expiring article for young beginners. For as long as you can do a biz on couple of grand credit line, you got the formula. What you do if you need tens of thousands of $$ for a larger remodel project?
$50K in credit to almost any company that has been in existence for one year. And if you have done what it takes to get a good D&B rating, you will likely qualify for more.
Check your personal credit? Damn why do you think we have corporate structure?
The D and B is a must if you intend to pursue a corporate entity for any extended length of time. Most of your suppliers wil check it. If you intend some day to suddenly expand your simple holdings and turn into an REIT and then with even more goodies falling into your lap take it to the moment of great truth. The launching of an IPO. You must now obtain the D&B.
it is another dimension above the three agency report. It looks as to the corporate worth and purpose and what direction it will be taking.
> What is this D&B thing?
D&B stands for Dun and Bradstreet. They are the largest credit reporting agency for businesses.
> How does it work?
It works like other credit reporting systems, but with some twists I won't go into here. The Info can be found elsewhere on this board if you are interested.
>Who does it mean anything to?
It means everything to anyone who is interested in getting ahead in their financial life. Once again, the details can be found elsewhere in these boards.
If you want to take advantage of the biggest tax breaks and financial benefits, you need to have a business entity set up. Just like it is extremely valuable to have good personal credit, it is extremely valuable for your business entity to have good credit. AND even if your personal credit sucks, you can have a business with AAA credit.

Does D&B check your personal credit as part of getting business credit?
To the best of my knowledge, the answer is no. You are an employee of the business, so your credit is not considered.
