Does Anyone Rent Vacation Property In Vegas?

I have been considering buying a vacation condo in Las Vegas that I can rent out weekly or on weekends when I am not using it. I have seen several listings on e-bay and on "by owner" type websites showing listings for rent in the complexes I am considering. The problem is that the HOA strictly forbids any rental for less than 30 days.

If I rent this way, do I tell the HOA that everyone who comes is a "guest" of mine? If the renters are quiet, will anyone notice?

In a new complex called Borgata, the only units available for investment pursposes (in other words to be rented) are street facing. I was planning on buying pool side.

Anyone out there dealt with these kinds of issues?

I do not want to get hit with fines or into a lawsuit with the HOA because I have heard they are a bear to deal with.

Thanks

I totally agree with what you are both saying. However, I KNOW this is going on because I see e-bay auctions for the same complex I am looking at, and I see listing on www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) for the same units. Maybe they are just not that strict? Anyway, I wrote to about 10 people who had listings today, so I will see what they have to say as well.

You ask our opinion...we give it...you continue with rationalization. If you get away with breaking the rules does that make it right?
