Do Major Events Create Markets?
I just saw a thread someone posted with Orlando in the subject. While not related, it got me thinking: Do events, like hurricanes, tornados, floods, etc create viable investment markets?
Seeing as FL was just torn up by Charley, will there be investors making new fortunes there from it's aftermath?
My buddy tells me they have "we buy broken houses" signs up in port charlotte.
Yes, events like this do move markets. Sometimes the movements are not good and some places never seem to recover from such disasters. Other times the disaster clears the ground for a new round of growth. I'm betting that will be the case in Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda. I'm putting together a fund to invest in Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte deals right now.
I agree with CK, I'm not at the stage of doing speculation in my REI career but Charlotte is probably a good bet for more gated communities and big developments instead of those mobile home parks
