If I schedule a closing at a title company, do I need an attorney there as well? I believe I can just do a closing at an attorney's office instead, are there benefits of doing at a title company?
A title company is required to have an attorney, whether it is in house or not. All documents are covered by insurance and they require an attorney to be involved.
When I closed on my houses in Chicago, my attorney found several hundred dollars of charges the Title Co was trying to make me pay that were either duplicates of things the seller paid, or just BS charges to line their pockets.
If you are new and don't know what you should/have to pay, bring an attorney that works for you and I bet you'll save $$.

Lance,
In order for a company to be able to issue title insurance, The company must have an attorney on the payroll.
Ok more specifically then, can I just close at the attorney's office and skip the title company? I'm convinced, the attorney is a good idea...now I just want to know if it's necessary to also pay a title company.

Most title companies are owned by an attorney

You're relatively new at this- right? An attorney is never a bad idea.

So I should pay $300 to the attorney, and another $300 to the title company for the closing?
