Cutting Out The Middle, buying Directly From The Supplier
I was watching flip this house and these two guys in Nevada were gutting and rehabbing their houses themselves. They took the initiative to go over into China and buy the materials directly from the Chinese vendors. They were using granite slabs for flooring, exquisite bathroom pieces, this stuff was really high end. They ended up using $146,000 for materials (which probably would have been $400,000 where I live). They bought the house for $352,000 now it appraises for $975,000.
Has anyone ever bought directly from the supplier or imported materials from overseas? I would like to cut costs or get better materials for the $$$.
I saw the same episode. They got their shipment in 3-4 weeks if I remember correctly. It does seem to be a great way to do things, however, they actually FLEW to China and ordered everything there to make sure they could avoid most language barriers. It appeared there only problem was with the european toilets - they needed to modify things to properly connect them.
