Cut Hardi Board

what do you use to saw/cut hardi board?

In a bathroom project, we need 3 or 4 holes, (one for shower head, 3 holes for ( hot, cold, and bathtub faucet)

I saw a man who uses the circular/round saw ( making round hole for door lock) making round holes.

But the first cut, all the sharp teeth are gone.

Do you use regular circular saw to cut hardi board?

When dealing with Hardi board systems and similar products like Durock is us my rotozip with tile blade and a mask. I use the rotozip mostly to quickly score my board.

I will say that it is rare that I use such systems......for about 8 - 9 years I have been using Schluter Ditra. While it is a little more expensive in material (about 30 cents a square foot), it more then makes up the difference in cost of labor, working around cabinets and other materials where one must be careful not to damage, not to mention it is a better product.

Rotozip works alright. There is a blade for jig saws that will work very well. It is slow, but you can do a lot of cuts. Ask a hardiplank (the siding) supplier, as they should be more on the builder supplier end of things (not HD or Lowes)...the blade is $10 or so. The hole saws that you mention will get eaten alive by the hardi products.

I opt for a rotozip or cheap harbor freight hole saws that can be thrown away after a couple of uses...

Here is the quickest way to cut circles in hardi or dura rock... Get some plumbers putty-roll out a long cord of it, press it around the area that you are going to cut. Fill area with water. Use cordless drill and hole saw and slowly drill your hole. This will save your bit for many more holes.

Now keep this trick a secret!!

    summerj,
this is way over my head.
Please explain the reason for plumber putty, how does it help reducing wearing on blade?

something around $3 to $5 per blind. I can get them at that price at either Lowes or Home Depot. There was actually a thread recently on this topic....you should do a search.

We get tehm from HD and they cut the widths to size. Work great and no problems.

Here in Atlanta is a warehouse for Habitat for humanity. this is where they store/sell all excess material and they have LOTS of it. Problem is that you never know what they have. I visit the place monthly and pick up great deals. Some items i dont really need but i cant pas up a good deal. Other cities must have these warehouses too

What kind of blinds are we talking about here? Vertical or horizontal? Vertical blinds I know to be very cheap to maintain. They are super easy to repair and much more durable in general. Plus you can opt to replace only the slats, which is a much cheaper than replacing the whole thing, and you can do it in 2 minutes. Horizontal blinds are sh*t in my opinion. More expensive and not as attractive.

The tile themselves or the grout?
Could be a waxy buildup. Try Greased lightning. After you clean it, seal it. Matte tiles tend to get like that if unsealed.
For the grout, get grout cleaner and the regrout if it is floor tile. If it is countertop tile, score out the grout and regrout.

I have heard great things about MR Clean Magic eraser, although for a tile floor...I imagine you would have to buy a lot of it. According to a handyman I usually use, it works wonders on virtually anything.

If you use a carpet cleaning company, they may have a special cleaning solution that uses an acid to clean the floors. Vinegar is an acid, probably not the same acid they use, but you can try it on a section.
