They "fix" your credit and are also a MLM? That just screams RUN. Check out http://www.creditboards.com[ Edited by LoneGunman on Date 05/15/2004 ]
Ditto the LoneGunman...
Creditboards is a very fast moving board with the best info anywhere. You'll get questions answered in minutes.
DO NOT HIRE ANYONE TO HELP FIX YOUR CREDIT. There are almost too many reasons for this to list. You'll do it better, cheaper, and a LOT faster yourself with the info you'll learn there.
There are other good boards too. Creditnet forums and www.artofcredit.com
Also good choices... Any one of them will make your head spin for about a week as you get the basics down... just ask a LOT of questions. I knew nothing about credit repair a few weeks ago, and I've got people coming out of the woodwork asking for my help now.
No matter which site you use, I guarantee you this... After you spend that first week getting the basics down, and do your first round of disputes... you could spend 1 hour a month on your credit repair, and spend the rest of the month picking your nose... and you'd still get more results quicker than with an agency.
Agencies tend to get paid one of two ways. The first is some sort of retainer. You pay a monthly fee, and they... drag it out as long as they possibly can. The other is per deletion and they... delete a bunch of positive accounts too without letting you know that some of their deletions may actually hurt your credit.
I totally agree with thestudentisready. Many repair agencies blanket the CRA's with generic disputations. And even though you may sign the dispute in your name, you risk spending your valuable time rebutting the CRA's "we don't work with credit repair agencies."
And even though there is a response to that CRA claim, it's a waste of your valuable time.
From my experience, there is one report available (281) pages worth that covers everything about credit repair. You can find it http://credit.registerwire.com/
The purchasing option is disabled so this is not an advertisement for it. But if you are interested you can buy it cheap. The other great site I know of that deals with credit is at http://makethebankpay.com.
They also offer a free report you can download.
Both reports can really help an investor or person having credit and debt issues. One thing that most people don't know is that debt counseling *cannot* help people with their secured debt and very few can reduce the principal payment. Debt settlement is better but both still ruin your credit anyway.
As I understand it, for people with serious debt issues, the best route is chapter 13 (reorganization) and NOT ch 7 as most attorneys would suggest (it's easier and less time consuming and it requires no discipline)...
FYI. I hope this helps.
