Credit Help. Nobody Will Help Me Pay Them.
I have a 580 credit score. I have a good job that will allow me to pay off my bills and fix my credit. But for years, I couldn't do that and haven't paid for about 4 years.
I got my credit report and sent all my creditors a letter stating that I would like to find out their best deal and would like to pay it off in 10 months. My thinking would be that I would pay off over 10 months so that it can be reported on my credit report.
Anyways, I sent about 12 certified letters around the beginning of July 2003 and got all the receipts back stating that they received my letter. But no one has answered me back.
Is it law that they have to answer me? And what if the didn't yet, what should I do? When I call, they don't even acknowledge that they recieved it. How can I fix my credit if they won't let me pay for what I owe?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on your state, the SOL for those accounts may have run out. Your creditors more than likely sold your account long ago to a CA. Try this site.
