Part of the fun of having vacation property is having the time and money to utilize it. Right off the bat Costa Rica can be expensive to get to - well, compared to getting in the car and driving 2.5 hours.
Thanks for all the replies and input. I never did think about who would look after the place whenever I was not there and the problems that can arrise from this

I have just recently moved to the Dominican Republic, and the real estate market is heating up here. Donald Trump has a project here in Punta Cana where I live, but the 2 main areas for europeans, Canadians, and US citizens are Punta Cana/Bavaro area and also North Coast like Puerta Plata, Sosua and Cabarete. The president here is US Ivy League educated, and is pro-US. There have been several agreements signed between the 2 countries, and a revamp of their Legal System, especially in regards to Real Estate. Title companies such as Stewart Title are here, and mortgages are becoming easier to get. It is something worth looking at. Just about every community has 24hr a day security, and beach access is common among many of them. As an example, we have a 1/1 condo, about 700sf with a community pool, and some commercial units (small supermarket, a pharmacy and a couple of small restaurants and bakeries) with wi-fi, and private beach club. This is available for 89k US. Any questions, just email me.

I absolutely have tried craigslist, ****This URL Not allowed****, the paper and just about anywhere else I can find to seek information.
My original question still holds. Does anyone know if an owner of a free standing building could expect higher rents than that of an office complex?
Thanks for reading and responding
