Cost To Demolish?

I am thinking about purchasing an unlivable home that will need to be torn down. Can anyone give me a ballpark idea of what it might cost to completely teardown and remove a 900 square foot building?

I know there are a lot of variables involved, but are we talking $10,000 or $50,000 (or more)?

Thanks,

Mike

Is it unlivable, but some components retain value?
Do you have a local Habitat for Humanity Re-Use operation? You may be able to get them to do most of the dismantle for free, as they take fixtures, lumber, doors, windows, etc. for resale.
You would want a liability waiver, with proof of all volunteers indemnifying you.
if you provide a dumpster and labor to load it, you may get off real cheap.

If you just want to write a check, I'd guess $10,000 or less. Others here may have a better idea.

Like you said, I'm sure the cost varies by region, but in FL, I just had a 1000sf wood frame home (on piers) demolished and carted away for $4,950.00 That price also included removing the septic tank and rough grading.

In any case, I can't imagine your cost exceeding $10k no matter what...
