Condo Rental & Association Questionnaire

This is a cross post from the Landlord forum in case people on this board don't scan that one:

The LLC I head up owns a condo in New Jersey that we rent out. When we purchased the unit, we inherited the tenants who have been great. Additionally, I passed the tenants name and telephone number on to the association when we assumed ownership.

Recently, I received a letter from the association demanding the following:

A key to the unit (because it is rented)
The name, SS# and driver license number of all the people living in the unit
The name of the tenant's employer
The names of any children, their DOB, their relationship to the renters & the school they attend

In my opinion, the association has no right to this information, and my attorney feels that it violates the Privacy Act.

Has anyone out there run into anything like this before or know of any court cases that have ruled on issues like this? It looks like I will have to take the association to court if they press this or (even better still) start fining me for not providing this information

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The association for the condo that we own in Florida ( my son rents from us) required names, DOB, soc numbers and driver's license number from all persons living there. They ran a background check. They didn't, however, ask where he worked or demand a key. Good lord, why would they even think they had a right to a key???
I actually liked the idea of them screening the renters in the complex, that way i know there aren't any deadbeats or escaped felons around!
    Good luck !

The unit above yours has a burst pipe in the wall. Water is running into your unit from the unit above. You are on vacation for two weeks.

When you get back, I bet you wished the association had a key to enter your unit to effect emergency repairs and cleanup. What if the burst pipe happened to be in your unit and you are unavailable.
