Collections and Lawyers
I have some past judgments from 2 years ago, these judgments were paid and cleared a year and a half ago. The Lawyers will not send in the proper paper work to courts to clear it off my record.
What can I do?
Have your lawyer prepare releases of these J's & send to other lawyers for needed signatures & you'll probably have them back, signed, in short order...so you can then file in case files, and record in recorders' offices where needed to clear the records on your RE.
If they're paid off, you're owed a document called a "satisfaction". You may have to take it to the county clerk and pay to record it yourself.
If the other side won't furnish it, you should be able to apply to the court to get it. If you can prove you paid the other side and they improperly failed to provide you with one, you may be able to obtain by court order your costs spent on prying it out of them, depending on your state laws.
I may have misread your post.
If satisfactions have been filed, the CRAs should eventually pick up the fact (through third-party courthouse combers like Dolan Info Svcs). Just don't be the one to personally send the CRAs proof, as it makes the TLs stick like glue and makes it tough for you to craftily pry them off when you've already admitted them by sending in the paperwork yourself! (same goes for bankruptcy discharges -- don't send 'em to the CRAs).
Then the credit reports will show "paid judgment" for seven years from the date paid.
If you've moved around a bit, disputing off old addresses so they're not on your report, then disputing the judgments as "not mine" might clear them off your report.
"Public Records" only hurt your score badly for a couple of years after they're paid off, but some persnickety creditors don't want to see any, so if you can pry 'em off there, do so. [ Edited by flacorps on Date 04/15/2004 ]
Thank's
How do you suggest I go about removing it from my credit. I have moved around a bit.
