Clueless Need Help.

Take a deep breath. Re-finance my house, closing company took care of everything, so I thought. Come to find out 2 months later that my mortgage company had paid some back taxes which put the escrow account in the negative amount of (1954.00). Payoff was dated October 28, 2004, title company paid the loan off November 15, 2004. My mortgage company paid the taxes November 3, 2004. I had never had an escrow account with my mortgage company since I paid taxes on my own. I did owe these taxes, anyway come to find out my mortgage company is coming after me for the (1954.00) since it was not paid off by the title company. I do not have this kind of money. Please help.

Thanks

    Hello--
I take it from your post that you did not take out any money at this refi, correct?
You stayed with the same mortgage company who had your loan, right?

Call your mortgage company and see if you can work out a deal for this money. Ask if they would consider taking payments monthly until this amount is paid off.

Mortgage companies will generally try to work with you - the last thing they really want to do is take your property...

    Good Luck!

No, I financed with a new lender. The title company says the payoff amount they got from my mortgage company was wrong. Now they won't release title until it is paid. I did get money back, I requested 3,000.00 for home repairs. Done and spent. This was part of the reason for the re-finance.
