Closets Too Small

I have a question about closets in old homes. You know the little craftsman bungalows that have closets not deep enough to put a hanger in the right way. Anyway. I was thinking about just taking off the door and putting up a nice curtian. Have any of you run into this adn what have your solutions been? I would make the closets bigger, but it is not possible in this small home. It will be a rental after rehab, unless we can put on market and make about 20K.

Thanks

Kim

Well usually we spend a lot of time talking about vintage charm as we show the rest of the house. Then when they get to the closets you say "yes, they are small, that is the price you pay for all that vintage charm. What most people do is they get a wardrobe to put the clothes in."

"They sure are small. And there is only ever one bathroom. Weird huh. I guess back then people didn't have clothes or use the bathroom" Pause for laugh. "Let me show this great view..."

If you want you can go to home depot or lowes and buy small closet cabinets for around 100. 00 or so .

I have a duplex with these closets as well. I state that they are part of the character of house. Market the house, not the closets. If renters really need - they'll buy a wardrobe/armoire. Know & sell your neighborhood furniture store.

    Hey,

It is up to you, but I would NOT buy portable closets. They get stolen and they make the rooms look smaller.

Do not focus on this issue. All the houses in the area are the same, so they all have small closets.
