Can I Use The Term Foreclosure Consultant

Hi there,

I want to use the term Foreclosure Consultant in my letter. I'm in Florida and someone told me that I legally couldn't use that term? Anyone know if that is the case, I searched high and low and couldn't find an answer. If I cannot, anyone have any suggestions on a good title "Foreclosure Specialist" for example?

Thanks in advance for the help.

This is a prime question for your attorney. However as a layman I don't think there is a problem here. Anyone else?

It is legal you can call yourself anything you want. I do not suggest it. I tried it sometime ago when they were burning Carthage.

I suggest that your card on white parchment with embossed lettering in script read.

    Johnthan Doosy, OBE,DSO,DFC.GM.
    Real Estate Equity Specialist
    or Estate Agent, Trustee
    or Financial Advisor
    Specialty Correction Delinquent Acccounts
    Etc. Etc.

Cards are good but you must converse.

I've used Housing Consultant or Housing Specialist in the past without any problem. Problem with Foreclosure Specialist might give the connotation you are an attorney since foreclosure is a legal term for having property returned to the lender if the buyer fails to make payments, etc.

I've used the term both informally and on letters I send to NPNers I find at the courthouse. Check your statutes on your state's website, probably you can do a specific/advanced search for that exact phrase, which should lead to any prohibitions. Can't imagine who would bust you if it's not 'officially' legal though (well, I can, an overeager lawyer). As long as you're offering sincerely to help people keep their homes first, and buy it from them if all else fails second, your bases are likely covered.
