California Real Estate Purchasing Form
Hi again, what forms are people using in California for putting a house under contract? I hear there is an official standard one that is required by law.

You can even stop by your local stationary, such as Office Depoit or Staples. There you can find an aray of legal forms and contracts that could answer your questions, at least most of the time. It's quick, easy and convenient... at least for me. 8-)
The "official" form is the CAR form and is put out by the California Association of Realtors. It is not required by law, but according to my attorney, there are some paragraphs that are helpful to have match the CAR form should it ever go to court.
According to my attorney, if you ever go to court and your contract is very different from the standard CAR form, the judge is going to be instantly suspiciious.
If you are purchasing a home that has entered into foreclosure in CA, there is still a different form and special rules. I would try find yourself a RE attorney who can help you write a contract that is more friendly to your business, but still legal and legitimate.
If you want to see the CAR form, try going to the local REA supply store. There is usually at least one per county and they sell all of the agent forms and contracts.

And, do they have assignment of contract forms? I guess probably not!!
