Buying A "Contract"

What Exactly is the difference between purchasing a property which is for sale and purchasing the contract. I am interested in sub to investing. Would buying the conract have anything to do with Lease Options? I am studying John Locke's couse now and im sure he will possibly address this but I am curious now since I am seeing ALOT of contracts for sale. I look forward to hearing from you.

hey Wayneone, I'm not to sure but I think your confusing Contract for Sale (installment contract aka Contract for Deed,Agreement for Deed etc..)in John's course with something different- each state has a different verbage of what this is type of agreement is called. Just email John I know he'll get back to you.

When you make a purchase of real estate, you are purchasing the subject property.

When you purchase a contract, you are purchasing the right as specified under the terms of the contract.

One you purchase real property the other you purchase paper.
