Where Do I Start?
I may have missed the posting so forgive me. My question is very basic. I own a half acre of land in a developing area of New Mexico. May be ten years down the road this will be a suburb area to a major city. I would like to start developing housing on the property. Where so I start? Do I need to go through the recorders office to check out zoning first? Do I get blueprints and buliding plans before a construction loan? I plan on building then renting the homes out not selling them off. Is that a reasonable plan? Question ame more questions.
I posted a reply to your post in the "Dividing A Lot" topic that addresses some of your issues here. I would also suggest you consult a real estate attorney who is conversant with the development laws of the state. If land use & devel. regulation is done on the local level there, then the ordinances (zoning, subdivision & land devel.) should be available at the municipal or local gov office.
