Foreign Land Development
I am looking for suggestions on the types of questions I should ask and issues I should consider when evalutating an opportunity to invest in property in a foreign country, specifically India. An associate who is an India native has approached me about a partnershp that would invest in land near his hometown that he believes could be developed into housing within the next few years. I want to do a thorough evaluation and have several months to do research and investigation -- I need to know about property ownership restrictions, structure of the business entity that would form the partnership, statistics on the specific geography being considered. What else? Anyone have experience buying foreign land?
