Can I Do A Condo-conversion W/ Refurbished Units?
I want to convert my 4 family in Jersey City, NJ into condos. I don't want to gut renovate, as a couple of the units are in great shape, with a ton of original detail. The problem is, how do I know if it will pass local and state inspection? If the electrical/plumbing needs to be upgraded, tearing into the walls may not be an option. God only knows what work was done on this property in the past 150 years. I'd hate to convert and have a inspector tell me the studs aren't 16" apart and to rip down all of the walls. Please help!
