Building Boo
I have a question regarding a home being built. I was told that if you are in that stage and lumber is sent that the buyer should get to keep the excess wood or it should be credited back to your account, Wel l I had never heard of this before so therfore I'm asking you all if I can get an answer to this question. Also, I did ask a builder and he said that they always get over the amount and they send it back. Well that did not sound correct to me. If I'm paying for the home to be built then the refund should be sent back to me.

I am having a home built and it says in our signed contract that any left over wood belongs to the builder. they build so many homes that the price they quote is for enough wood that they need to build the house I paid for and nothing more. although I have known 2 people that have built with this builder and both times they left good extra wood and never came back for it. I would say it depends on your contract or builder.

Yeah, I think for larger builders, especially in a large development, they will not refund any of the extras. That may apply when you are laying out all of the funds along the way in building a custom house though. In that case you own all of the parts of the house as they go up instead of the builder owning it and then selling it to you.

it all depends on your purchase arrangement. if you are subing out and you are the one ordering and paying for the order any excess will be credited back to your acc. if you have hired a contractor and he has quoted you a "house completed price" and you have agreed to a finished purchase price the contractor will have all the excess credited to his acc. and yes it is normal to over order and return used materials.........km
