Buckling Floor?

Found a TRASHED vacant 2 family home that needs to be gutted(even has what looks like black mold). My only problem is that in several areas, the floor has buckled up about 4 inches almost the width of the house! What do you suppose the cause of that is & more importantly, what is the fix?

    Hi Knucs,

Without looking at the problem, no one here could really tell you for sure what caused the problem.

Your best advice is to contact a structural engineer who can
tell you not only what happened but what to do to fix it.

I agree with Mike. Some deals are not deals.

There was a property for sale in GA that we were looking at for 13K. It had new siding, roof, windows. But it needed everything on the inside. There was a gutted doublewide trailer in the back. Turns out it was not there legally, and would have been quite the pain in the arss to remove because of its proximity to the house. When done, the 2/1 in that neighborhood would be worth 40K, but it might have taken about 30K to get it ready to fix up and rent out.

If a property is dirt cheap, there is usually a reason.

Look up the properties address on the EPAs superfund site.
