Boarded Up Houses;; Where Do You Go From Here??
Just came back from my Saturday Morning Recon in one of my areas. It's a smallcity (just over 70000 people), mainly lower income homes and it's in the midst of a rebirth. Very Exciting!!!
Anyway, there are many, many boraded up houses in certain parts of the city and there is new construction going up all around them. I knocked on a couple doors to ask the neighbors what was up most of them said it was either 1 of 3 things, Either a death, murder, or fire and most of them had been boarded up for only 1-5 years.
Only a few of them had public notices on them or other township information. The other's didn't. Do I just call the Housing Authority or the County Recorders office to find out what the status is on these places or what??hese homes won't last much longer, the city is swamped with rehabbers.
If I get the info, how do I go about purchasing?? Thanks in advance

find the owner or trustee or whatever's name and mailing address from the county recorder of deeds office (via address) or the tax assessor's office.
then just contact them and ask if they're looking to hold on to the place or get rid of it.
if the latter, make your low-ball offer and stay close to your guns, since you're rehabbing. don't overpay!
let me know how it goes ...
