Need A Good List Of Research/reading Material For A Newbie.

I am becoming intrested in real estate and would like to know what I need to do to get a good foundation of knowledge. Are there any recommended books that are must reads. What about courses are any of them worth the money. Right now I'm just looking for a starting point. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Rock

    Rock,

The best advice in this case happens to be free. Your library will most likely have a number of titles to choose from that will be sufficient to start laying the knowledge foundation. Also, stick with these kinds of online forums. Most have a section with "articles"...lot's of good reading to be had. Don't worry if you don't understand a lot of it...constant exposure and repetition will eventually pay off in your comprehension.

If you have no knowledge of real estate, consider taking the beginning class that all real estate agents take at your local junior college. I wished I would have done that first since I would have then understood much more of my readings on the investor sites.

Save your money right now and take advantage of the free resources (and low cost tuition) that are out there. Once you have that foundation, then consider buying a course or two in areas specific to your interests (flipping, rehab, rental, lease/option, foreclosure, sub-to, et. al.). Incidentally, you'll pick up plenty of book recommendations along the way without even having to ask.
