Interesting Discussion(s) At REI Club
Ok, so I went to my first REI club meeting in San Jose last night. It was interesting to say the least.
The majority of the people at my table had property. Be it a few properties, they still had more than my zero.
During the disucssion they referred to their realtor. So, I asked why they used one. The most common response was "because they know the area." One then went on to say "otherwise, you will be knocking on doors."
As I sat back, I thought about it and thought to myself how true that could be. But, I then thought and reminded myself that we both, investors and agents, have value to the neighborhood. The articles and posts I have read mostly say concentrate on one area and get to know that area. Only after being truly comfortable should one slowly expand, both in territory and techniques.
One other interesting tidbit I noticed, they did not use *any* "creative" techniques. They all had traditional financing.
So, for me, that just says that there are quite a few properties for me to get my hands on. Creatively!
