Asbestos Floor Tiles

Just recently purchased my first home and it is a fixer-upper which was built int he 1950's. Some of the floors in the house have 9x9 tiles which the contractor said have to be removed cause of asbestos. But then today i was reading a book on flooring and it said that the best thing to do is leave the floor down and dont disturb it and lay floor over it. Would it be a smart idea to lay my new hardfloors over this? Or shoud i remove the 9x9 asbestos tiles, put a subfloorand then lay my hardwoods?

If the floor is smooth and in good condition, go right over the tiles. The asbestos in the tiles is not a hazard unless you start doing something silly like sanding them up.
