Is there any way that i can tell, or get a idea that a property has lead paint or asbestos in it before having someone come out to look at it ?

yes Home Depot does offer a do it yourself tester kit that i believe is pretty cheap. we were just currently working a deal, where the property was cited for lead by the Health Dep, a major problem. it was multi fam, and some kid a few years ago got sick from eating it. you should def. check with the closest health dep. just to make sure its not on there list. whats stupid is that the house next door had lead paint chipping off the side of the exterior everywhere but since it wasnt cited nobody cares.
The health dep. wanted us to submit a plan on how we were going to remove it. and they wanted us to do major rehab to remove every tiny bit. i.e. dig up the ground all around the house and replace all the dirt. and they would be watching us the whole time. INSANE. and that wasnt even the worst. so we just fliped it at a really cheap price.[ Edited by ZinOrganization on Date 10/26/2004 ]
