The best city to invest in is the one you live in. That way you can check on it often. As Lyndon Johnson used to say, "The best fertilizer is the footprint of the owner in the soil."
Agree with commercialking. You know your own area best and know where you should invest in that area. Outside that area of expertise is a crap shoot IMHO.[ Edited by d_random on Date 11/26/2008 ]
These areas are good for HomeVestors®. Charlotte: 7% unemployment now, was 4.5% last year. Banking capital of the east coast. Good thing the banking business is sound... Not! Most of the growth in the past several years is tied to banking. So, yes. All this is good for HomeVestors® and their ability to sell franchises. My thoughts mirror commercialking and d_random.

Year 2002 when my family decided to put a small business in Florida. It’s a small dress shop wherein my older sister is managing until now. I remember my grandfather told me that if we’re planning to put up a business, make sure that it would be in our hometown or in the place where we are staying. The main reason is to lessen the expenditures and to manage the business closely. But if you have a large capital you can consider investing to a really advisable area.
I would be very wary of Texas right now. With Oil prices down significantly, you will see a slowdown in the Texas economy soon.
Thanks Cindy good Info

Great insight king! I think that you know your place more than anywhere else and can make a good deal out there.
A recent trip back to TX shocked my wife and me with the low prices for houses in several towns and cities.
A 4 BR, 2.5 B house in high end neigborhood there had listing price of $175k, while that same house in Seattle or Bellevue WA carries a listingj price of $750+
