Appraising Auctions With Legal Descriptions?

Hey,

I want to bid on some tax auctions, however many of them only list the legal description, as you know. how do you guys go about appraising those? any help would be appreciated from a newbie smile

    Is this in CA? Usually the assessor's parcel number is also included. If so, look up the parcel number in the assessor's property roll. From that you can get assessment information, last sale date, perhaps last sale price. You can also look up the parcel map for that area and see the size and shape, as well as whether there seems to be a road or street by the property.

    After doing records research, you need to look at the property.

    You do not have to have a very accurate estimate of market value if you determine to pay no more than say 50 or 60% of rough market value. A little error in value is not big deal.
