Anyone Know Any Company That Hire Tax Lien Researchers
Does anyone here that deals with Tax Liens / Federal and State Tax liens know of anyone other than NDR / Choicepoint that hires folks to research liens? If so, could you pass it on to me? Thanks.
With that background if that is what you want just go to the nearest Title Company, bang on the door of the shop and tell them you would like to be hired. I am sure they have occasional openings.
It is not a career field that is all that attractive in this day and age. This is the time of slow but steady movement toward full display of all recorded documents right out on the internet. I expect within five years there will be an auxilliary read at the Recorders office and every document as it is recorded is also had a duplicate digital image generated and that will be available probably on subscription line. Probably still need a night search team, but I can see how that could be eliminated.
Look at the courthouse almost all of that is on computers. Sure you still have to present a checkout card to pull the actual file, but that too is soon to be full digital. You will merely go on line. Hit Courthouse Index, Case subsections, pull out the Case by name and then number. Pull number and there it will be right up to date each filing of an action, a service, return of service, the whole ball of wax.
Daily recordings of documents is of course a snap unless the document has an attachment tying it to a master document on file somewhere. Just a matter of time and we can run the whole show from our desktops.

I know. I work for 5 different people doing mortgage research. I do it all from my desktop. I dont even live in the state I research in. More and more, the courthouse are inching towards documents being displayed totally online.
Funny thing is, even tho data is easily obtainable, some places still would rather have someone else do the research. (Lazy people are my friend) Some states however do not allow certain things displayed, still requiring a trip to the recorders office. I know several counties in my own state (The one I live in, not the one I research) that still do not have pc's in the recorders office and have no plans of moving to pc anytime soon.

As I have said I do almost everything from my home office. I occasionaly have to call the title co. and have a document faxed tome. Usualy when there is a game being played on title and someone has done a John Doe Deed and it is not in the chain. then I have to get help from the title co. So I can search numbers adjacent to the recorded document.
For example I see a Deed of Trust and the Trustor is not the person showing on the title chain. there has to be a Grant deed from the person showin. If not it is wild and may be a game being played. We do not mind as it gives us a chance to insert. Our insertions are based of course on a lot of observed history and we pick the hole in title pretty easily. It is at that moment we insert or query and solve or terminate the problem.

I have heard of law firms that occasionally use researchers related to properties. I'm not sure how to locate those that would use this service though.
Maybe you could advertise your services, or create a services company...

If I were in that business, I would contact the estate attorneys, real estate attorneys, Title attorneys, smaller franchised banks, etc. etc. Essentially any of the smaller companies or individuals associated with real estate. I would especially hit the extreme rural areas and extreme urban areas, since they would be the most likely to have not enough time or resources to make your type of business attractive.
I would also get tied into the envrironmental and surveyor groups for referals.
