I am in MA, not ME, but curious to know how the market is up where you are?

have you talked with any realtors, or do you know your market?

MA is a hot market, but I am thinking ME might be more of a buyer's market. Let me know if you could, thanks, Dave

Trying to learn the market now. I have been watching the newspaper to learn the average rents and selling prices in various areas. I have also been driving around different neighborhoods to see what is for sale in the low-moderate income areas. Going to start calling realtors tomorrow to see if I can get a list of distressed properties to look at this weekend. Hopefully start making some offers.

Also down here in MA w/ dave and also curious. What area(s) of Maine are you considering. Also, what are you getting started in? Long term holds, flips, etc.

    Regards

I'm up in Central Maine, the Bangor area. I have very little money right now so my plan is to try and generate some, with flips or assignments. Trouble is, I haven't found any other investors in this area to try and assign contracts to. I called the Chamber of Commerce and asked if there were any REI groups or associations and the lady had no clue what I was talking about. There has to investors here somewhere so I'll keep digging until I find them. [ Edited by ksinclair on Date 04/23/2004 ]

Keep in mind, I have no idea what I'm talking about here. Nevertheless, I would think you could attract more 'action" w/coastal property. By MA standards, ocean front property is still reasonably priced in Maine (North of the Yorks, Kennybunk, etc.). Heck, even my mother-in-law, who lives in Indianna, has property in Maine. Everybody loves the "rocky coast".
    Best of Luck!!
