Absentee Wife

Regarding that letter from HSBC that says the customer has to pay the deficiency, etc etc - the letter calls for the signature of both borrowers, I have a POA from the wife as she has moved out of the area - does anyone know of any problem with that kind of letter being signed via a PoA?

this was a SS that was started by someone else but I believe he typically requests a satisfaction.
Is not being able to afford the house or the debt is higher than the value not compelling enough?
