2 Family To Condo's

I have just purchased a 2 family and want to convert it into 2 condo's. What are the building code restrictions as far as each tenant having access to their electrical panel? Does there have to be a 1 hr fire rating between the units? Does there have to be an association fee involved. Basically what are the building codes in Massachusetts as far as converting a 2 family into 2 condo's

    you need to go sit down with your local community development/zoning office and ask these questions as they are very municipality specific. whether you need a 1hr or 2hr wall will depend on different factors and you will need to sit down with the fire dept. to discuss that. Generally, each unit should have it's own electrical panel and utilities. If you create a condo then you will have an association to handle the common elements of the condo association. One thing to note, setting up a condo association is not really cheap or easy and getting insurance for condos is expensive.
