1960's Broken Slider

I've got a rehab with an 84" wide by 76" high sliding glass door. The panes are divided in two, and one is broken. The handle and latch assembly is broken and the catch to lock it is missing. The glass replacement is close to $300 and the replacement latch we bought doesn't fit... Apparently this isn't a stock door size anymore. I need a source with a quick turn around to replace it as cheaply as possible--thought french doors or two stationary panels with one ten pane door, etc. Don't have the time or money for a custom order job. Ideas?

Your header hieght is the problem the width can be framed in and trimed to match. most standard sliders are framed with a 80.5" header hieght. I would look for mobile home parts dealer thier parts are all odd sizes and most generally on the small side.
Without being able to see the particular problem first hand replacement seems the way to go.

Several companies sell retro fit door units made to fit slider removal rough openings without changing the framing. Check with Homedepot or Lowes or whatever chain stores you have. They will be able to help with stock door units

    Good LUCK and Thank You
    Hope this helps some

Good news and bad news....There are several ways to fix the problem. But they aren't easy...that would be the good news. You won't be able to find "rack" door panels for that www.opening.The height is fairly simple the width is the challenge.
Here is what I suggest and this is the www.quickest.Retro fit the opening with new jamb stock its not that hard. You can get stock 36" french doors and a matching 12" sidelight everything will have to be cut to size but that will be the fastest www.way.If you are fairly handy I can walk you through the process.Hd might be able to order from Orepac a 34" wood french door (21068) and that would be even www.easier.If yo would like to try this let me know and I can send you specific instructions if you want to try it yourself.
    Have fun and good luck
